New VAT Rate - New RRP!

At Doctor Who Action Figures Online, we believe that you should be able to buy Doctor Who action figures from any shop at the RRP price.

Up until 30th November 2008, the standard price of a single carded figure was £7.99, however from the 01 December 2008, the standard Value Added Tax rate within the United Kingdom was lowered from 17.5% to 15%. This means any figure purchased from 01 December now has an RRP of £7.82.

Other notable price changes include any items previously priced with an RRP of £19.99 (e.g. The Stolen Earth Gift Set) should now be sold for £19.56, with any £39.99 item (e.g. 12” Remote Control Davros), priced at £39.14.

All good United Kingdom retailers should be able to offer you these savings.

We have just received news from Character Options of the brand new Future Sonic Screwdriver due to be launched in January 2009.

The Sonic Screwdriver toy as used by Professor River Song in the Series 4 episodes, 'Silence In The Library' and 'Forest Of The Dead' includes light and sound effects.

Tonight On BBC One From 7pm!

It's time to dig deep as BBC Children in Need returns on tonight from 7.00pm on BBC One, with a variety of entertainment acts, all appearing to raise money for disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Terry Wogan is joined by Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton for a spectacular night of fun and fundraising.

The seven-hour show will come live from BBC Television Centre and will feature some of the UK's top TV, musical and theatrical personalities and acts along with a special preview of this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Next Doctor!

29 October 2008 | TV Series | David Tennant To Leave Doctor Who

Newsflash - Direct From The BBC...

David Tennant has announced that he will leave the award winning BBC drama Doctor Who when he has completed the filming of four special episodes which will be screened in 2009 and early in 2010.

David Tennant first appeared as The Doctor in 2005 and has gone on to star in three series and three Christmas specials as the tenth incarnation of the Time Lord. The BBC has confirmed that David will continue to play The Doctor in the four specials that will make up the 2009 series before a new Doctor takes over for Series 5. Tennant will also star in the Doctor Who Christmas Special titled The Next Doctor this year.

David Tennant comments "I've had the most brilliant, bewildering and life changing time working on Doctor Who. I have loved every day of it. It would be very easy to cling on to the TARDIS console forever and I fear that if I don't take a deep breath and make the decision to move on now, then I simply never will. You would be prising the TARDIS key out of my cold dead hand. This show has been so special to me, I don't want to outstay my welcome.

"This is all a long way off, of course. I'm not quitting, I'm back in Cardiff in January to film four special episodes which will take Doctor Who all the way through 2009. I'm still the Doctor all next year but when the time finally comes I'll be honoured to hand on the best job in the world to the next lucky git - whoever that may be.

"I'd always thought the time to leave would be in conjunction with Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner who have been such a huge part of it all for me. Steven Moffat is the most brilliant and exciting writer, the only possible successor to Russell and it was sorely tempting to be part of his amazing new plans for the show. I will be there, glued to my TV when his stories begin in 2010.

"I feel very privileged to have been part of this incredible phenomenon, and whilst I'm looking forward to new challenges I know I'll always be very proud to be the Tenth Doctor."

Russell T Davies Executive Producer of Doctor Who comments "I've been lucky and honoured to work with David over the past few years - and it's not over yet, the Tenth Doctor still has five spectacular hours left! After which, I might drop an anvil on his head. Or maybe a piano. A radioactive piano. But we're planning the most enormous and spectacular ending, so keep watching!"

Doctor Who returns to our screens on BBC this Christmas. The Next Doctor starring David Tennant, David Morrissey and Dervla Kirwan will be screened on the 25th December on BBC1.

22 October 2008 | Series 3 & 4 | Marks & Spencers Packaging Exclusives

Two Doctor Who Figures Released At M&S For Christmas.

Make sure you pop down to your local Marks and Spencers store to find some great gift ideas in their newly opened Christmas Shops, which opened in all large UK stores this week.

As part of their Christmas gift range this year are two Character Options Doctor Who figures which have been released in Marks & Spencers branded packaging.

For those who collect packaging variants, it is worth noting that the Series 4 Doctor With Adipose and Series 3 Dalek Thay (first release in new style packaging) contain no Character Options markings/logos. These markings/logos have been replaced with the relevant Marks and Spencers branding and company information. Each figure remains unchanged. Currently each figure retails at £7.50 and are included in a nationwide 3 for 2 store promotion.

14 October 2008 | Newsflash | 4 Brand New Figures Found On CO Store!

Series 4 - Wave C Assortment

Visitors to Character Options online store were treated to a surprise today after finding brand new Doctor Who figures listed on the manufacturers website.

With no previous announcement, four brand new figures have been placed for sale under the "Doctor Who Series 4" tab.

Hath Peck, Professor River Song and the Vashta Nerada all form part of the next wave of Series 4 figures, however it is unclear at this stage if the fourth new release, the 'Time Lord' (As seen in Series 3) will feature in the Series 4 assortment or Series 3.

We expect to receive more details within the next few days along with clearer images, so keep with us for all the latest!

09 October 2008 | Sets | Tesco Exclusive 'The Companions Set' Out Now!

Here Come The Girls (And K9)!

DWAFO have just received official conformation of a brand new retailer's exclusive, featuring six 5 inch action figures of the Doctor's former companions.

Astrid Peth, Martha Jones, Donna Noble, Rose Tyler, Sarah Jane and K9 all make up the brand new 'The Companions Set' which will be available as an exclusive product to Tesco stores here in the UK.

Stocks of 'The Companions Set' should now be reaching stores, however please check the availability of this set before visiting your local store.

Doctor Who Action Figures Online is pleased to bring you news on the latest wave of Series 4 figures which has been officially announced by Character Options today!

Davros, the Supreme Dalek and the Judoon Captain will all join Donna Nobel, Sontaran Commanda Skoor, Sontaran Trooper, the Natural Ood and Ood Sigma from the previous Series 4A wave to make up the Doctor Who Series 4B (08) [Wave 1.5].

Cases which are due to hit stores next month will contain the following mix of figures;

Limited Edition - 100 UK Time Crash Sets Worldwide!

UK collectors were in for a treat today as Character Options, in a low key announcement, announced that they had commissioned a strict one off batch of the SDCC 2008 exclusive Time Crash set for the UK market.

These sets, which are not part of the SDCC Time Crash batch due to the fact that they are not numbered nor do they contain the US promotional Top Trumps card, were made available to customers directly from Character Options Customer Services on a one per person, first come first serve basis.

Priced at £12.99 + £2 Recorded Postage / £5 Special Delivery, these sets are, if not already, are expected to sell out very very quickly.

Referred to by collector's as the 'Time Crash UK100' set, Character Options are not due to make any further batches of this set available for purchase once all sets have been sold.

30th July 2008 | Update

At the start of today, a limited amount of Time Crash sets were still available to those who contacted Character Options, however please note that all 100 sets have now been purchased and Character Options have now stopped taking orders for this set.

Fans Flock To Argos!

Doctor Who fans have been able to pick up the latest Series 4 figures and Sontaran Statagem Gift Sets at Argos today after the official launch of their Autumn/Winter 2008 catalogue.

Limited stocks of Series 4 figures were made available to each store in order to cover the launch of the brochure along with the Sontaran gift set at selected Argos branches.

Although stocks are limited at present, things are set to improve over the next couple of weeks as more stock arrives, at which point other retailers should also be receiving their allocations.

Series 4 figures include; The Doctor with 5 Adipose Figures, Ood Sigma, Donna Noble, Natural Ood, Sontaran Commander Skorr, Sontaran Trooper and the Pyrovile Priestess - each priced at the RRP of £7.99!

Argos Catalogue Reveals New Who Lines!

If you are anything like us, when picking up the new Argos Catalogue, you head staight to the Doctor Who page in the Toy section to marvel at all the Who merchandise.

Launched in many stores at 3pm today* (official launch tomorrow), the Argos Catalogue interestingly features two brand new pieces merchandise - yet to be announced by Character Options!

These new lines include a revised Flight Control Tardis, complete with "Bad Wolf" graffiti (out now) along with a Plush Adipose which are due in stores from September.

Other merchandise included in the Autumn/Winter catalogue includes the Series 4 action figures, 5" & 12" Remote Control Supreme Daleks, The Fires Of Pompeii set and the Dalek Voice Changer.

Unlike previous catalogues, there are no Doctor Who Argos exclusives, so all lines mentioned above should also be stocked by other retailers.

Who's At San Diego!

Underground Toys, the US distributors of the Doctor Who toy range, last month announced that two brand new exclusive figures, limited to just 3000 per piece will be released at this year's San Diego Comic Convention.

The figures, which can now be revealed as an exclusive 'Time Crash' set and a Ninth Doctor, an exclusive variant, will be made available from the 24th July 2008 from both the BBC booth no 3635 and Underground Toys booth no 3949.

Each figure has been specially commissioned in limited numbers for San Diego Comic Con and each is individually numbered with a special hologram sticker. Underground Toys expects high interest in both sets and are expected to sell out quickly.

The 9th Doctor features the green shirt worn by the Doctor in the Fathers Day episode of Series 1, while the 10th Doctor wears the darker shirt and tie, and the 5th Doctor comes with the later style, Edwardian cricketers outfit together with the iconic celery stick, as worn in the one off, specially written episode, Time Crash.

Selected US retailers will also be receiving a limited amount of figures which can be sold from tomorrow to all those who may not be able to make this years convention, however stock is strictly limited.

The RRP for the 'Time Crash' set is $35 while the Ninth Doctor retails at $20.

New Radio Controlled Daleks To Invade A Store Near You!

An impressive 9.4 million people tuned in to the nail-biting Doctor Who series four finale, which had viewers glued to their screens to watch the Doctor defeat the Daleks and their creator Davros.

Doomsday Doctor Hits The States

Three new figures have hit USA stores this month in form of Series 2 Rose Tyler & Chip, the Series 1 Grey Auton and the Doctor with 3D Glasses as seen in Series 2 Army Of Ghosts/Doomsday.

Two of the three figures released have been released over in the UK, however the Doctor With 3D Glasses is a first as this figure has not been released as a single carded figure in the UK and has only been released in Gift Sets.

The figure which is mounted on the USA exclusive cardback comes with an exclusive Doctor Who Top Trumps card, once again only seen in the USA and retails for around $9.95-$14.95.

In Other News

In other USA news, we have details of two 5" Doctor Who San Diego Comic Convention Exclusives due to be released at the end of July.

Distributed by Underground Toys and limited to just 3000 per piece, these items look set to prove popular just like last year's Chocolate Dalek and Destroyed Cyberman releases - more details when we can release them along with pictures coming soon!

We are pleased to report that the Voyage Of The Damned Gift Set has hit stores up and down the county.

First spotted in Toys R Us, this set includes;

- 1 x The Doctor figure with sonic screwdriver.
- 1 x Titanic Life-Ring.
- 2 x Heavenly Host figures with Halo Weapons (separate).
- 1 x Astrid Peth figure.

One change has been made to the set - even from promo pictures (pictured) sent last week direct from Character. The Doctor figure included in this set is in a blue suit and is not coated.

The recommended retail price of this set is £19.99, so please don't get caught out and pay over the odds!

January 2008 | Series 1-2 | Combo Specials

Character Options have just announced the first wave of Doctor Who figures for 2008!

We welcome three brand new characters to Series 1 and two brand new figures to Series 2. We also welcome back Moxx who will also make up the latest wave!

For 2008, Character Options have took the decision to ship Series 1 & 2 figures in one case in order to build upon both ranges, however making it easier for retailers to stock and consumers to buy.

It is expected that future waves will ship in the same way, however Series 3 figures at present will continue to ship in whole cases.
