March 2007 - Present

Back in March 2007, the United States saw its first ever wave of 5 inch Doctor Who action figures containing an exclusive wave of characters from Series 1 and 2.

Now following the UK release structure, Underground Toys - the US distributors, have offered collectors the chance to own a US Doctor Who action figure exclusive or variation. Below, Doctor Who Action Figures Online notes the majority of these exclusives covering the very first wave to Top Trumps variations.

Back in March 2007, the United States saw its first ever wave of 5 inch Doctor Who action figures!

The first batch of figures shipped over by US distributor, Underground Toys contained an exclusive mix for the USA market which consisted of four figures from the UK Series X Wave 1 (06) and one from Series 1a (07). The mix also included an exclusive solo packed 9th Doctor, never seen in the UK. Each of these figures were packaged up on a USA cardback which reflected the assortment of figures available (See Packaging Guide).

Due to the nature of how Doctor Who Figures are released over in the USA, the odd variations in cardbacks exist. This is evident in the Series 1 Assault Dalek release which sees an SDCC cardback being used as packaging, however altered with an over sticker replacing the SDCC logo with the Underground Toys logo. The cardback is the same as the 2007 USA Specials.

From April 2008, an unexpected addition was made to selected USA Doctor Who action figures, in form of a special edition Top Trumps Card!

Mounted inside the TARDIS Window behind the figure, a special edition Top Trumps card features Dalek Sec and an advert of the Doctor Who Top Trumps range was included. This card has been seen before as it has been inserted in to the first batch of the Region 2 Doctor Who Series 3 Volume 4 DVD (once again a special promo ad), however it is identical in every way to the Region 2 DVD card except for the website address which has the www.toptrumps.com/us written on it instead of the usual www.toptrumps.com address. In addition to the actual card itself, the promotion packs have also been backed up with an additional sticker, which has been mounted to the top near the hang hook.
