Micro Universe Guide

November 2007- September 2008

During November 2007, Character Options released a brand new range of Doctor Who action figures called Micro Universe.

Highly detailed and standing at just 35 mm, the Micro Universe action figure range allowed collectors to purchase a packs of either 3 or 7 figures. Randomly packed with common, uncommon and rare figures, collectors were able to battle against other collectors as part of an in-built game.

Standing at just 35mm tall, the initial collection consists of 26 figures featuring characters from series 1, 2 & 3 of Doctor Who, with a further 6 exclusive figures included in 6 different Micro Universe spacecraft sets.

Each micro universe figure is hand-painted which means no two figures are exactly the same. In order for the exclusively designed combat game, Character has mounted each figure on a styled base and with an individual set of special values marked on the base. This allows collectors to battle against overs using the Combat Rules as detailed further down on this page, however the figures may also be s
simply collected or traded. If collected, figures range in rarity, Common, Uncommon and Rare

As well as the great 32 figures and 6 ships in Collection 1, Character Options in early 2008 also released a specially designed TARDIS carry case, spacious enough to fit all 32 figures in.

First place all combating 35mm characters in front of you. Place them all base down.

Note: They must remain base down until used in combat or the game is void.

Youngest player goes first. Decide clearly before play commences whether you are playing for keeps (loser hands over their defeated character) or for fun. First pick one of your 35mm characters. On the base is a decal with certain values. These are Logic Rating, Temporal, Fear Factor and Physical Ability.

Note: One of these will be higher than the rest, even some weak creatures or characters have some ability in one of these areas. Thus, it is best to choose your highest rated ability.

Next declare clearly three things:
1. Which character you are using to make your challenge, for example: The Doctor in long coat.
2. What ability you are using for combat, for example: Fear Factor.
3. Which character in the other players team you are challenging, for example: The Red Krillitane.

Note: You must NOT look at the values on the base until ALL declarations are made.

Now turn the combating pieces over and look at the bases. Select the combat ability you chose and declare what each character’s value in that ability is. For example: The Doctor in long coat is 2, The Red Krillitane is 4.

Now each player spins the combat spinner (challenger first). Each player now adds the number they spun (number on lower edge, nearest the ground) to the individual character scores. The resultant totals are compared. The higher total score wins.

If you played for keeps, the loser hands over his or hers character and play continues with the next player choosing to declare.

If you played for fun, keep your character but set it aside.
